I gotta say, though, caricatures have pushed me to loose sight of my own style. I feel like my caricatures are disjointed and the drawings I do outside of them are much more cartoony than I have considered my work before.
While I have grown to accept the threat of making mistakes, having worked with pen all summer under the pressure of watchful, frugal eyes, I think I have become too sloppy.
Biggest of all, I think in the mad rush to be successful at drawing caricatures for others, I have come to adopt a style of drawing not my own that I'm having a hard time shaking. A couple of times it has given me great, more to-scale results, but on the whole I think I drew myself out this summer.
Thoughts/suggestions on getting back on the more artistic, less money-making side of illustration? Prompts/requests will be seriously attempted.
